Our Current Farms

Part of the SAVENDA Group of Companies, Savenda Farms is a growing contributor to Zambia’s agricultural value-chain. It significantly supports food security in Zambia while investing in the industrialization of its agricultural value-chain and empowering local farming communities.

Palabana Farm
(40km east of Lusaka)

The Palabana farm has over 50,000 laying chickens and produces an average of 45,000 trays a month. These are supplied to chain stores in Lusaka and the Copper Belt Province and for export to neighboring countries.

The farm also produces fresh vegetables such as potatoes, cabbages, carrots, onions and tomatoes for the supermarkets and has eight game animals, including three zebras and five Impalas.

Chibombo
(100km north of Lusaka)

Savenda Farms is growing commercial maize and soya beans in the Lukanga swamps and is targeting to start growing paddy rice for the local market. The farm also produces vegetables such as tomatoes, cabbages, cucumber, and watermelons.

Shibuyunji farm
(70km west of Lusaka)

In Mumbwa (Shibuyunji District), Savenda Farms has developed 1,5000 ha to grow commercial maize (300 ha) and soya beans (300 ha) but also common beans, sunflower, hass avocados and vegetables.

It is also in Mumbwa that the company hass even fishponds containing a total of 68,000 fishes. The ponds are currently producing 25tonnes of fish and Savenda Farms is increasing their numbers from seven to 20 by the end of 2021 to meet growing domestic demand and help reduce imports from China and South America. Because of the local deficit in fish, Savenda Farms has now acquired land on the bank of Zambezi River where it will install fish cages able to produce 20 tonnes of fish each from the Southern Province.

OUR EXPANSION PLANS

To further contribute to Zambia’s food security and industrialize the country’s agricultural value-chain,
Savenda Farms has invested in several new projects across the country. The company has procured a
soya beans oil extraction plant able to process 40 tonnes a day of soya beans to produce 6 tonnes per
day of refined oil. In return, extracts from the soya beans expeller will be used to make feeds for the
company’s poultry business.

Similarly, Savenda Farms is planning to develop 1,200 ha of land into a wheat plantation where it
wants to set up a milling plant to process wheat into flour. It is initially targeting the processing of 200
metric tonnes per day of wheat to support the making of 50,000 loafs of bread, daily. The product
would then be marketed at the company’s own bakery while extra flour will be sold on the domestic
market.

The company has also procured additional land in the south of Zambia where it is developing a 63 ha
banana plantation before ramping up to 1,000 ha. Finally, it is developing 80,000 ha of land in the Isoka
District into a unique bee farming project. The company has already introduced thousands of beehives there, and will now train beekeepers amongst the local community to produce honey at a new EU-
certified honey purification plant.

OUR COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITIES

Savenda Farms is deeply anchored within the Zambian ecosystem and supports communities and farmers in several ways. It notably aggregates small- scale production from neighbouring farmers to empower them and give them a chance to grow their own crops at competitive prices. In key areas such as the lsoka District, it is also building roads, bridges, clinics and healthcare centers.

The company is now establishing free agricultural advisory centers across all its farming locations to
support local farmers with knowledge on planting, fertilizer, pest control and operational efficiency.
